Ost Legal recommended by IFLR1000 in the field of energy and infrastructure

08.07.2015

The firm was named one of the top-3 national law firms in the fields of energy and natural resources. In the IFLR1000 review, Ost Legal is characterized as a Russian boutique firm specializing in the area of electric power and infrastructure, while Managing Partner Vladimir Lipavsky is described as the firm’s lead expert in these fields.

Clients recommend Ost Legal as a legal consultant under the implementation of Russian EPC-projects, explaining that the firm boasts a wealth of experience in the oil & gas sector. “Aside from their top-notch legal expertise, the firm’s legal team demonstrates sector-specific knowledge that’s particularly helpful in terms of project implementation,” relays one of the firm’s clients.

The publication notes that Ost Legal’s most recent accomplishments have been associated precisely with projects in the field of electric power. Among the biggest handled in 2015 was consulting Rusatom Overseas on a transaction valued at over EUR 12 bln in connection with the expansion of Hungary’s largest nuclear power plant – PAKS. Vladimir Lipavsky and his team drafted and agreed an EPC-contract for the construction of two of its generating units.

As concerns projects on Russia’s domestic market, Vladimir Lipavsky is recommended by Quartz – New Technologies – the contractor under an ЕРС-contract for the “turnkey” construction of two coal-based generating units, each with an installed capacity of 660 MW, at the site of the OGK-2 OJSC branch Troitskaya SDPP, as well as by E.ON Russia – implementing a project with a budget of EUR 1 bln for expansion of the Berezovskaya SDPP.
